The Spanish cyclist Felipe Orts finished in nineteenth position in the Cyclocross World Championship, which was held this Sunday in Hoogerheide (Netherlands) and in which the Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel was crowned.
The man from Alicante remained for a good part of the test in a large group of about twenty runners who ended up breaking up. Despite suffering a crash and losing a few places, he was back in the top 10 midway through the race, although he was 19th, just eight seconds behind 10th. For his part, Kevin Suárez finished thirtieth.
“I was very forced throughout the race; the straights came and I tensed up and in the curves I could not recover; it has been very agonizing from start to finish. I have given everything, it has not been the result I was looking for, but I know that the races They are like that. We were all very close together and in the end I lacked the strength to be further forward. I am happy with the year”, indicated Orts.
Meanwhile, the Spanish junior team saw their career conditioned by a crowd formed at the start that harmed Gorka Corres and Hodei Muñoz. Muñoz also later suffered another fall that damaged his hand and thigh and was forty-ninth, and Corres finished thirty-fourth.
