FC Barcelona inaugurates its new sports museum

BARCELONA, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona inaugurated its new sports museum on Tuesday, which will open its doors tomorrow Wednesday and will be in use until the inauguration of the one that will house the future Spotify Camp Nou in the 2024-2025 season and which has the largest immersive room in Europe .

The opening ceremony was attended by the president of FC Barcelona, ​​Joan Laporta, the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat, Natalia Garriga, the founding partner of Grupo MEDIAPRO, Jaume Roures, and Jordi Penas, director of the Museum, which is located next to to the Palau Blaugrana, in the building where the Palau de Gel was located. In addition, this occasion was used to display the second Champions League for the women’s team.

“I am sure that history will be made, we have a very exciting, splendid and triumphant future ahead. Hopefully the history that is being made will cause a space as wonderful as this to remain small. We all aspire for the museum to be full and it evolves more and more. It will be a splendid future and we will triumph”, wished Laporta.

For his part, Jordi Penas stressed that the museum “is passion, illusion, future, feeling, and making people who come from all over the world happy to spend some time”, while Jaume Roures described it as “a space that exists in Europe and that allows us to relive emblematic moments in the club’s history”, without forgetting that it will be “a great economic vector for the club”.

As indicated by FC Barcelona, ​​this facility has received thousands of visitors each season in recent years, specifically 1.8 million per year before the pandemic, which has made it the most visited museum in Catalonia. Coinciding with the closure of the current museum due to the impact of the stadium works, the club has enabled the new space that has some 2,400 m2 and is divided into different areas to create a better experience for the visitor, with the purpose of replacing temporarily to the current ‘Stadium Tour & Museum’.

Its creation mainly responds to the objectives of turning it into a pilot test for the application of the most advanced technologies and recreational activities that will be implemented in the future new Camp Nou Spotify Museum, where virtual reality, immersive activities and holograms will be put on. serving the history of the club in an entertainment-oriented environment.

On the other hand, they also want to create a space that becomes a technological benchmark, as well as modernity and innovation; and finally, to protect as much as possible an important source of income for the club.

This project has been developed jointly with Mediapro Exhibitions, the MEDIAPRO Group division specialized in the creation and development of exhibition and museographic projects, and which already carried out the reform of the current Museum in 2010.
