BARCELONA, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The first phase of works at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc has been completed, as reported by a FC Barcelona that is fulfilling the agreement to transfer the use of the stadium, agreed with the Barcelona City Council, for the next season in the framework of the works of the ‘Espai Barça’ and the new Spotify Camp Nou.
In the coming weeks and until May 4, performances are scheduled to stop due to a series of events at the facility already scheduled for this month of April, such as a double concert by Bruce Springsteen.
The first works to adapt the Olympic stadium to the needs of Barça, which will make Montjuïc its home for the 2023/24 season, as well as to the requirements of LaLiga, began last December.
Work began on the pitch, changing the drainage, irrigation and water treatment system, as well as installing a new water tank and adapting it to the necessary dimensions.
In addition, general conditioning work was carried out on the Olympic Stadium in relation to the changing rooms, the press stands and the hospitality areas, as well as the installation of competition systems and television broadcasting.
Other actions, which are still in progress, are the adaptation of the sports lighting, the pre-installation of the turnstiles for access to the doors and also the telecommunications networks. These will resume in a second phase of the work, after the break this April.
Following the scheduled schedule of performances, the club announced that the second phase of the works will serve to finish conditioning the stadium, such as the transfer of the generator sets, the assembly of one of the television commentators’ stands, the group of irrigation water treatment or the installation of access turns to the stadium.
To complete the adaptation works, the third phase –which will begin on July 24 and end at the start of the 2023/24 season– will be responsible for replacing the stands that currently do not exist to provide the area of the field of play with evacuation exits in concert mode, the installation of chairs in VIP areas and sports competition systems -VAR, tracking cameras, offside cameras-.
The assembly of the benches and goals will also be carried out. In addition, the ticket booths, merchandising and the Barcelonista Support Office will also be set up and the final grass for the pitch will be planted.
