FC Barcelona announced this Monday that it has closed the financing of the ‘Espai Barça’ with a total of 20 investors and for a value of 1,450 million euros, “guaranteeing the start of the remodeling works of the Spotify Camp Nou and meets the criteria approved in the referendum”.
“FC Barcelona has closed the financing of the ‘Espai Barça’ as planned, guaranteeing the start of the remodeling works of the Spotify Camp Nou and meeting the criteria approved in the referendum, without the club’s equity guarantee or a mortgage on the stadium” , explained the club in a statement.
The entity chaired by Joan Laporta indicated that it has closed the financing “with a total of 20 investors and for a value that will be 1,450 million euros, a figure that covers the cost of the works on the ‘Espai Barça'”, and that “the financing structure is with some of the main internationally prestigious financial institutions”.
Thus, this financing will have “different tranches at 5, 7, 9, 20 and 24 years” and will have “a flexible structure, which has a grace period.” “The club will begin to repay the operation once the stadium works have finished, with the income generated by Spotify Camp Nou, which is expected to be approximately 247 million,” Barça stressed.
In this way, the culé team “continues to advance in its strategic plan and in the development of the Espai Barça project, achieving maximum flexibility to find the best proposals in terms of cost and time”.
“Throughout the process, the efforts of the members of the Board of Directors and the club’s own teams have been complemented by reference partners, such as ‘Goldman Sachs’, ‘JP Morgan’, ‘JLL’, ‘Pérez -Lorca’, ‘DLA Piper’, ‘Key Capital Partners’, ‘Legends’ and ‘IPG 360’, among others.The purpose is to combine the experience and knowledge of the club’s teams and professionals together with the best practices of the different areas associated with the project”, he added.
Finally, Barça celebrated that this operation confirms “once again” its “credibility within the financial markets regarding the Camp Nou Spotify project, the epicenter of ‘Espai Barça'”, which is “essential” to keep it “in the leadership of world sport, one of the pillars of the economic recovery and future viability of the club, and an instrument that allows the continuity of the governance model, where the more than 146,000 members are owners”.
