Fabio Silva renews for Wolves but leaves on loan

Curious anniversary day Fabio Silva lived today. The Portuguese striker, in addition to blowing out 20 candles, has signed a one-year renewal with Wolverhampton, until 2026, but he will not continue with the Premier League club but will play on loan until June 30, 2023 at Belgian side Anderlecht.

Fabio Silva, an U-21 international with Portugal, signed for Wolves from Porto in 2020 and became what is still the record signing of the English club in its entire history (40 million euros).

Since then, Fabio Silva has played 54 Premier games and scored 4 goals, but has failed to earn a starting position. At Anderlecht he hopes to get more minutes and fight for the Belgian league title.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations with Bruno Lage (coach) and Fabio as well about what we think is best for his development,” Wolves manager Scott Sellars said. “We feel like a season playing regularly would be very good for him at this point in his career.”
