Three team staff members McLaren and Haas from Formula 1 they have self-insulated as a preventive measure at the Australian Grand Prix, while undergoing tests to see if they have coronavirus. All teams are acting with extreme caution to avoid the possibility that any sick person could infect someone else. Following the appearance of some team members showing symptoms of fever, a contingency plan has been established. A member of the McLaren team, plus two of the Haas staff, have been evaluated and isolated to complete the tests.

McLaren issued a statement on the matter in which he said: “We can confirm that a team member has isolated himself in the hotel As a precautionary measure, according to our policy, after showing coronavirus-like symptoms. ” Waiting for the results of testing and we currently don't have a definitive time frame. The team is operating according to our normal schedule, “said the note. With the results of these tests, which will probably take several hours, both teams have confirmed that their staff have returned to their hotels and have been placed in a condition self-isolation until it is known whether they have contracted the virus. It is unclear what the implications will be for Formula One and the Australian Grand Prix if any team member is confirmed to have coronavirus.

Australia has intensified their attempts to contain the virus, announcing that he is prohibiting Italians from traveling to the country from Wednesday night, although this does not affect the Italian staff of Ferrari, AlphaTauri and Pirelli, who were able to travel to Melbourne beforehand. Formula One issued a statement earlier this week saying they were taking a scientific approach to managing the coronavirus crisis and that they were establishing a plan of action. “They will unfold specific teams of airport experts, transit points and circuits to protect personnel, focused on the diagnosis, management and extraction of suspicious cases, “stated it.

This situation came just after Australian media reported that a citizen who attended a function at a closed hotel near the Albert Park circuit was diagnosed with COVID-19, having ignored the symptoms for several days. The hotel was not open to the public at this time, so no Formula One personnel have been affected by this circumstance.
