Ex-soccer player and rookie for the Cowboys Brandon Aubrey sets the mark for most field goals made without a miss.

Brandon Aubrey, the kicker for the Dallas Cowboys, made a 51-yard field goal against the Eagles of Philadelphia in the first half on Sunday. The kick put the Cowboys ahead 17–14 and put Aubrey’s name in the NFL mark book.

In the NFL, it was his 19th clean field goal to start the season. In NFL history, that’s most field goals made without a miss.

With the extra point on Sunday, four of those 19 kicks have from 50 yards or farther. It was 58 yards long and came up against the Los Angeles Rams within Week 8.

It wasn’t enough to help the Cowboys win, though, as the Eagles moved on to win 28–23. Aubrey is not like most NFL rookies because he is 28 years old. Aubrey is a soccer player first and foremost.

Toronto FC picked him in the first round in the 2017 MLS Draft after he had a great college career in Notre Dame, where he was named to the All-ACC team and the Third Team All-America.

Even though Aubrey played in the USL, which is a lower league than the MLS, he was cut from several teams in that league.

After that, he worked as a software engineer using his degree in computer science. However, he did not give up on becoming a competitive athlete.

Last summer, Aubrey worked on her field goals with coach Bryan Egan in One-on-One Kicking.

Because of his work, he got a chance to go to Cowboys training camp with NFL pro Tristan Vizcaino. He got the job first, and since then, he hasn’t dropped a field goal.

He is now an NFL record holder and was named Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 8. That’s pretty good for someone who had not played football because middle school.

Brandon Aubrey, a rookie who is 28 years old, got a three-year deal in Dallas after leaving the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL.

Aubrey has had a pretty big change since he was let go by Toronto within 2017 and then again by USL team Bethlehem Steel in 2018.

When Aubrey played against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, he made NFL history. Aubrey was picked by Toronto FC in the first round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.

Just before the end about the first half, Aubrey made a field goal from 51 yards out to give Dallas a 17–14 lead. It was the 19th straight field goal by a rookie kicker, which set an NFL record.

Since then, the Notre Dame graduate has become a software engineer after getting a degree in computer science. People all over the world have seen his LinkedIn page.

“Even though he missed the initial PAT, he came back and nailed the next one, the next one, the following field goal, and a next field goal,” said John Fassel, who is in charge of the special teams. “It’s a good sign that you didn’t freak out when you failed your first try.”

The Cowboys stuck in Maher through the 19-12 loss with San Francisco at the divisional round and the 31-14 win over Tampa Bay in the wild card round last January. Maher had a different PAT blocked in that game.

Jerry Jones, the owner and general manager of the team, said that they planned to move on from punter after the season. This is what led to Fassel’s “stealth operation” in Alabama and now Aubrey’s somewhat unique situation.

“In a way, it was going to be my third attempt at being a rookie,” Aubrey said. “I know what it’s like being a rookie because I was one in the MLS, the USFL, and now this.”

High school was in Plano, a neighborhood of Dallas. Aubrey played soccer for the Dallas Texans, the identical club team that produced Clint Dempsey, who is now retired from the U.S. national team.

After winning a national championship when he was a rookie at Notre Dame, Aubrey was picked by Toronto FC in the first round of the 2017 draft and was given a salary of $75,000.
