Evenepoel exhibits himself in the initial time trial and puts on the first ‘pink jersey’ of the Giro

MADRID, 6 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) donned the ‘pink jersey’ this Saturday as the first leader of the 106th edition of the Giro d’Italia after winning the first stage, a 19.6-kilometre individual time trial between Fossacesia Marina and Ortona in which he swept rivals like the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo Visma).

In a flat 14-kilometre day along the Ciclovía Adriatica with an uphill finish to the finish, Evenepoel put on a real display and stopped the clock in 21:18, destroying the times of his main adversaries.
