Former soccer players Eusebio Sacristán and Juan Carlos Unzúe, and tennis player Carla Suárez will participate, among others, in the meeting ‘The social impact of leaders in the world of sport’, which will close the central day of the ‘Sport that Transforms’ congress on March 30 at the Valladolid Trade Fair.
Carmen Ballesteros, Juan Manuel Asensi, Susila Cruyff, the basketball player and athlete Aauri Bokesa, the former rugby player Patricia García, the paddler Marcus Cooper, the Paralympic swimmer Luis Huerta and the water polo player Víctor Gutiérrez.
An activity will be held throughout Thursday afternoon for 120 boys and girls from the Castilla y León Inclusive Sports Schools of the Eusebio Sacristán Foundation, in which city sports entities such as Inclusport will collaborate, which will teach participants how to play wheelchair handball; the El Salvador Rugby Club, with a rugby touch activity directed by its first team players; the BSR Valladolid, which will bring this sport closer to children from the chair, and the Eusebio Sacristán Foundation itself, which will display a football game with interactive panels.
In addition, a child participation activity will be developed to listen to the proposals on sport and inclusion of children and adolescents promoted by the Platform of Children’s Organizations (POI) and the Desing for Change organization.
The Congress, organized by the Eusebio Sacristán Foundation, the High Commissioner against Child Poverty, the Youth Sports Foundation of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) and the Csai Foundation, will start on March 29 with the opening of the mayor of the city, Oscar Puente, the High Commissioner against Child Poverty, Ernesto Gasco, and the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco.
The former director of Childhood and Sports, Council of Europe, Elda Moreno, will give the opening speech of the congress. The first day will continue with the table ‘Benefits for children and the community of practicing sports in underprivileged environments’, by Athletic Club, and will close with examples of good practice by entities that work in Spain.
The second day, on Thursday 30, will begin with a presentation by an international benchmark in the field of social sports, Mogens Kirkeby, president of the International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA).
The morning will end with the key table for transformative sports programs, by the entity Fútbol Más, a foundation that works in eleven countries, including Spain, to promote the well-being of children and communities living in contexts of social vulnerability. .
During this morning, the LaLiga, Eusebio Sacristán and Cruyff foundations will also have a space to discuss inequality in the practice of sports, barriers to access and participation in disadvantaged environments.
The world of football will also be represented by the foundations of Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Betis, Athletic Club, Celta de Vigo, Barcelona and Osasuna, whose representatives will discuss the role of clubs as an element of social transformation. The closing ceremony will be made by the president of the CSD and the Fundación Deporte Joven, José Manuel Franco.
