MADRID, 14 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
RCD Espanyol won this Saturday 2-0 against Real Valladolid and became the new leader of LaLiga Hypermotion, in the middle of matchday 11, thus taking advantage of the draws of CD Tenerife in their visit to CD Mirandés (1-1) and Real Zaragoza in their visit to Real Sporting de Gijón (2-2).
At the Stage Front Stadium, the parakeets took the lead early with a penalty scored by Martin Braithwaite, who had to repeat his shot due to a previous invasion of the area by a visiting player. The Danish striker himself had caused the maximum penalty, after five minutes.
The sentencing came in the 35th minute, with a goal from Javi Puado when he took advantage of a pass from Nico Melamed in a run by his teammate on the right side of the attack. This victory placed Espanyol with 23 points at the top of the Second Division, followed by Tenerife (22 pts.) that rescued a tie from Anduva thanks to a goal from Ángel Rodríguez.
Another ‘cock’ that stumbled was Zaragoza (20 pts.), having wasted a 0-2 lead in the final stretch of the match. Maikel Mesa and Iván Azón scored the clever goals, but Víctor Campuzano reduced the deficit in the 86th minute and then, 10 minutes later, Pablo Insua took the colors of the visiting goalkeeper.
In a mistake to take a long shot, Gaetan Poussin did not realize that the rival footballer was behind him and threw the ball onto the grass; Insua appeared quickly to steal the ‘wallet’ with a touch that served as control, followed by a shot into an empty goal that even slipped between the legs of the Zaragoza goalkeeper, with time running out.
In addition, Racing de Santander won at the Cartagonova Stadium. Although José Luis Muñoz made it 1-0 in the 8th minute, Andrés Martín and Gerard ‘Peque’ Fernández turned the contest around. Alfredo Ortuño equalized on the brink of half-time, but ‘Peque’ himself made it 2-3. This put the Cantabrian team with 18 points and left FC Cartagena at the bottom (5 pts.).
