Espanyol-Atlético: the TSJC leaves the capacity at 40%

The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has finally decided, maintain 40% of the capacity for Espanyol-Atlético this Sunday at 2:00 p.m. and to reject the appeal that the parakeet club had presented last Monday, which requested to reach 60%, as recommended by the Ministry of Health. In this way, there may be up to a maximum of 16,000 spectators for one of the most anticipated matches of the fourth day of the championship.

Faced with the avalanche of requests, and although the Procicat had increased the capacity from 30% to 40%, Espanyol went ahead with its idea of ​​requesting that 60% in order to respond to its fans. The parakeet club was based on the comparative grievance with respect to other massive activities, which in recent weeks have come to have 70% of the capacity or even of its totality, such as social gatherings or places of worship.

The Ministry of Health, in addition, recommended to the communities a maximum capacity of 60%, a figure that Espanyol also uses. But the Generalitat, which could modify these rules, decided to reduce the capacity to 40% for all those activities that brought together more than 10,000 people, as is the case here. Against Villarreal, in the first and only game of the season at the RCDE Stadium, played in August, 11,095 people gathered with 30% restrictions.
