Erik Martorell is seventh in Elimination at the Track World Cup

MADRID, 24 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist Erik Martorell has been seventh this Sunday in the final of the Elimination of the Track World Championship in Roubaix (France) –which has come to an end–, a relevant position despite the fact that the Catalan did not arrive in his best physical condition to a date won by the Italian Elia Viviani.

Viviani, a professional road cyclist in the Cofidis team, gave the gold medal to Italy in an Elimination event in which the Portuguese Iuri Leitao was second and the Russian Sergei Rostovtsev third, with 1,000, 900 and 800 points respectively.

For his part, Erik Martorell, who had suffered a virus that infected the concentration of the Spanish team before the appointment, was seventh in this Elimination test with 600 points, staying close to the fight for the podium.

The Catalan closed his participation with this seventh place, a result that has “special merit” for the RFEC in view of having arrived just one hour after having played, along with Illart Zuazubiskar, a Madison test in which he was eleventh.

For her part, Tania Calvo had no options in the Scoring due to a puncture, after having to replace Ziortza Isasi at the last minute, the runner initially designated to perform the test, due to the fall she suffered on Saturday with Eukene Larrarte in the Madison.

Calvo accumulated five points and was in the positions of honor when he suffered a puncture that forced him to replace his rear wheel and lose a lap. Finally, she managed to finish the test in 18th place, with victory for the Belgian Lotte Kopecky.
