Emma Carrasco achieves another ‘mark of consideration’ for the Fukuoka World Cup in 200 styles

MADRID, 1 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The young swimmer Emma Carrasco (CN Sant Andreu) has achieved victory this Saturday in the 200-meter medley event of the Absolute and Junior Spanish Championship, which is being held in the municipal swimming pools of Son Hugo (Palma de Mallorca), and has thereby achieved another ‘mark of consideration’ for the next World Cup in Fukuoka.

Thanks to a time of 2:12.52, the 17-year-old swimmer claimed the victory ahead of Paula Juste (CN Lleida), who stopped the clock at 2:13.85, and África Zamorano (CN Sant Andreu), who finished in third place with a record of 2:15.16.

Carrasco already obtained another ‘mark of consideration’ last Thursday, by virtue of the criteria informed by the Technical Direction of the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation (RFEN), by setting a time of 4:42.96 in the 400 styles test.

This Saturday round of races, during the fourth day of the Open Astralpool Mallorca 2023, saw the victory of Carles Coll (CN Sabadell) with 1:59.27 in the men’s 200 breaststroke. His club mate Joan Casanovas (2:02.03) and Héctor Morales (CN Sant Andreu), who clocked 2:02.18, will accompany him on the podium.

Laura Cabanes (CN Daimiel) won the 200 butterfly with 2:11.74 and took almost three seconds from the second, Carmen Balbuena (CDN Inacua Málaga), with 2:14.52; Julia Pujadas (CN Sant Andreu) completed the podium with 2:15.18. In the men’s 200m butterfly, gold for Miguel Martínez Novoa (Real Canoe) with 1:57.42, silver for Arbidel González (CN Barcelona) with 1:57.75 and bronze for Fran Arévalo (Madrid NC) with 1:59.47.

Lidón Muñoz (CN Sant Andreu) shot ex officio to take the 50 free with 25.59 in contention with the Colombian Sirena Rowe and with Carmen Weiler (Real Canoe). The double Spanish record holder of 50 backstroke touched the wall in 25.71. In addition, Sergio de Celis (CN Sabadell) did the same in the men’s 50 freestyle with 22.45, taking the national title ahead of Óscar Pascual (Madrid NC / 22.52) and Luis Domínguez (EM El Olivar / 22.80).
