Emilia Clarke conquers Prince William: the 'mother of dragons', decorated at Buckingham Palace

The protagonist of Game of Thronesone of the most acclaimed series in history, has experienced a very special day this Wednesday. Emilia Clarke has visited Buckingham Palace and has been received by the príncipe Guillermowhich has awarded him the Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire for his work leading the charity, SameYou.

The interpreter, who gave life to Daenerys Targaryen for seven seasons, has been accompanied by her mother, Jennifer, her right hand at the head of the organization dedicated to brain injuries and which she created after suffering two strokes. The first of them in 2011, after filming the first season of Game of Thrones. Emilia was training in the gym and she lost her speech. Already in the hospital she was diagnosed with aphasia, a language difficulty from which she had a hard time recovering. The second was in 2013 and this time she needed surgery to recover.

The meeting between Emilia and William of England has been brief but intense: “He was lovely and made us feel very comfortable”said the actress. “He is very well informed about the objectives and work that we carry out in the organization”he commented. “My mother was on the verge of offering him to join the Board of Trustees. It would have been worth trying”, he said between laughs. Mother and daughter recognize that this award is an impetus to continue their work: “There are times when it seems like an uphill struggle that you don't think you're ever going to get to the top of.”

This is the second meeting between Clarke and the Prince of Wales. They met in 2018 during a reception organized at Kensington Palace. She, very nervous, forgot about the protocol: “I was calm until they explained to me all the rules that had to be followed. You can't turn your back on him. You must call him 'His Royal Highness' and I wasn't able to do it, I got stuck,” he explained on the show Late Night with Seth Meyers.
