Eloy Jiménez: “I know where I’m coming from and what the club’s challenge is”

Eloy Jiménez has been officially presented as the new coach of Atlético Baleares the one he has directed since last Wednesday after the dismissal of the Catalan Xavi Calm. The player from La Mancha has signed until the end of the season and his continuity or not would depend on reaching the goal of the Palma club, which is none other than promotion to the Second Division.

The presentation was given by the sports director of the entity, Patrick Messowwho has stated that he has known Jiménez for a few years now: “I have been in contact with him for a long time and it was always an option if a change arose. I met him four or five years ago. He is a coach with experience in the category and meet our players”.

Eloy Jiménez has directed teams such as UCAM Murcia, Mérida, Fuenlabrada or Lugo in recent yearsalthough he has been without a team since 2019.

The new coach has been grateful for the opportunity presented to him: “I thank the president, Ingo, and the sports management of Atlético Baleares because it is an interesting project, it is a club that wants to grow a lot and for me it is also a opportunity, and I am very grateful and eager to work, I know where I am coming from, I know the challenge that the club has and I am very excited”.

Some time ago, two players from the Balearic squad, Dioni and Hugo already had Eloy Jiménez as coachhence the coach points out that “some of the team know me, they know how I am and I have had a very good acceptance and I see people super plugged in and eager to do great things at Atlético Baleares”.

about the competition, Eloy assures that “there are very powerful teams and ours is going to be like them, teams like Albacete, Andorra or Castellón and many with the same goal as us and I am one of those who focus on day to day and don’t think beyond”.

In this sense, the new coach of the Balearic team assures that “if we think further we forget about the present and the moment and I think that is the way to work”.

The new coach of Athletic Balearic Islands will premiere this Sunday at the Balearic Stadium in a match that will face Alcoyana direct rival for category promotion.
