Eleven of the FIFPro year: 8 from Madrid, 5 from Barça and 1 from Atleti

FIFPro, the international association of footballers, announced this Thursday the 55 nominees for the 2020 Ideal Eleven, which will be released on December 17. In the list of ten goalkeepers, fifteen defenders, fifteen midfielders and fifteen forwards, there are fourteen LaLiga players (eight from Real Madrid, five from Barça and one from Atlético de Madrid). How could it be otherwise, Bayern, winner of five titles this season, is the club that has the most representatives, eleven, including Thiago Alcántara, now at Liverpool, and Coutinho, who returned to Barcelona.

From Real Madrid, the nominees are Courtois (goalkeeper), Ramos, Varane, Marcelo (defenders), Casemiro, Kroos, Modric (midfielders) and Benzema (forward). Ter Stegen (goalkeeper), Alba, (defender), De Jong, Busquets (midfielders) and Messi (forward) they are the nominees of Barcelona, while Oblak, Atlético's goalkeeper, is the other representative of LaLiga. Without a doubt, the presence of Marcelo and the absence of Piqué are two of the most striking things on the list.

Along with the aforementioned Thiago, Ramos, Alba and Busquets there is a fifth Spanish candidate: De Gea, Manchester United goalkeeper. Neuer, Alaba, Davies, Boateng, Kimmich, Goretzka, Gnabry, Thiago, Coutinho, Müller and Lewandowski are the eleven Bayern players on the list. The only footballer who does not play in Europe and who is among the candidates is Dani Alves, from the Brazilian Sao Paulo.

The goalkeeper, as well as the three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards who receive the most votes will be chosen to form the FIFPro eleven. The remaining spot will be assigned to the outfield player with the next highest number of votes. The jury for the award is the 38,000 players associated with FIFPro.
