The Aragonese is the first Spanish athlete to run a final of 100 meters in a World Cup

The athlete Elena Guiu has been eighth in the final of the 100 meters dash of the U-20 World Athletics Championship in Cali (Colombia) and has made history by being the first Spanish athlete to compete in a final of the modality in a world event.
Guiu made history before crossing the finish line, as the first Spanish athletics athlete to compete in the 100m final in any World Cup category. She and she was eighth, last, with a time of 11.52 to seal the feat.
No one had entered the queen of speed in athletics in a World Championship before, neither absolute nor in any lower category. And Elena Guiu, despite being far from the 10.95 -championship record- of the Jamaican and new world champion Tina Clayton, fulfilled her dream.
“Thank you all very much for your support. I knew that I had possibilities because I had prepared a lot, I was super motivated and trusted me. We went out for all, to fight, and above all to enjoy ourselves, too,” he acknowledged in statements provided by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA).
