Egypt says Salah is positive for coronavirus, then 'erases' his name

The Egyptian Football Federation officially announced that Liverpool player Mohammed Salah had tested positive for coronavirus, and therefore would not be available for the next two games against Togo. The player, who had concentrated with his selection for the qualifying games for the Africa Cup in 2021, had been infected, waiting for new tests on Saturday, as dictated by the protocol before the matches. Likewise, it was reported that the player had no symptoms and that he would be isolated for a period of ten days.

But just an hour later, the Federation has withdrawn that statement and has replaced it with another in which it only explains that there are three players, without mentioning names, who have tested positive. No sign of Salah's name. It is explained that on Saturday they will be subjected to new tests. Liverpool has not spoken publicly about it either. Egypt desperately needed Salah to get past a group behind Comoros and Kenya.

Liverpool will also not see his absence with very good eyes, if it is finally confirmed, because the injuries are feeding on Klopp's team, but, in this case, it could be an opportunity for Diogo Jota to gradually establish himself in the starting team without having to leave Firmino on the bench. In addition, Alan Browne, Preston's Irish midfielder, the second English, has also tested positive, after his team played at Wembley against England.
