Edwin Arrieta transferred more than 5,000 euros to Daniel Sancho a few months before he died

Money was one of the axes of the relationship between the Colombian surgeon and the Spanish chef: the former wanted to invest in new businesses and the latter gladly welcomed a capitalist partner who helped him realize his dream: opening his own restaurant. At least, that’s the ‘official version’. This Thursday, new details have come to light about the amounts that Edwin Arrieta transferred to Daniel Sancho just six months before his murder in Thailand.

The money that the son of Rodolfo Sancho On his friend’s side he arrived from Chile. According to the bank statements that have been shown in Morningsbetween December 2022 and March 2023, Arrieta made up to seven transfers to Daniel that added up to a total of 5.123 euros. The tests show not only a regularity in the timing of the income (approximately every 17 days) but also in the amounts (between 500 and 1000 euros). The payments stopped in March 2023, when the Colombian doctor traveled to Spain to enjoy Holy Week.

The amount is very far from the 200,000 euros that were initially discussed, although it is true that only the extracts from Chile have seen the light of day, where the surgeon spent only 15 days a month. The rest of the time he lived and worked in his native country, Colombia, from where he could also have sent money to Spain.

A chaotic session

The trial against Daniel Sancho for the murder and dismemberment of Edwin Arrieta is halfway through. This Thursday there was one of the most complicated sessions, so much so that it ended up being cancelled. The reason? The power outages that they suffer in the area and that affect the Koh Samui court, where they have been left without air conditioning and face temperatures above 43 degrees. The magistrate has suspended the procedure, which will be resumed next Tuesday, when it is expected that the incidents will be resolved.

In this way, Daniel’s statement, which was scheduled for this Thursday, will take place next Tuesday, as will that of his father, Rodolfo Sancho.
