Eduardo Zaplana, underwent emergency surgery for heart failure in the midst of the fight against leukemia

The former PP minister is going through a difficult time as far as health is concerned. At 67 years old, Eduardo Zaplana, who has been fighting leukemia for eight years, suffered a heart attack for which he had to undergo emergency surgery at a clinic in Madrid last week. The intervention went well and he is already recovering at home.

The environment of the former political leader has not wanted to slip too many details but has revealed in The Spanish that Zaplana has been fitted with a pacemaker and that after spending a few days in the hospital, he was discharged to continue recovering at home.

As we said, the PP man has been fighting leukemia for eight years. The disease and its treatment have generated additional very serious problems, such as pulmonary thrombi and multiple organ failure. He was diagnosed in 2015 and since then he has been treated at the La Fe Hospital in Valencia, where he underwent a bone marrow transplant. Four years later, also his wife, Rosa Barcelowas diagnosed with the same disease.

He faces 19 years in prison.

It must be remembered that Eduardo Zaplana is waiting to be tried by the Provincial Court of Valencia for the so-called Erial case. The first oral hearing will be held on January 9 and will be followed by another 40 sessions, which will extend over five months.

He entered pretrial detention in 2018 but was granted provisional release eight months later due to his delicate state of health.
