The visually impaired sprinter Eduardo Uceda achieved his second medal this Thursday at the World Paralympic Athletics Championships being held in the Japanese town of Kobe after winning bronze in the 100 meters in the T11 class for totally blind athletes.
Uceda, already world runner-up with his guide Diego Folgado in the 400 meters T11, finished third in the hectometer final with a mark of 11.44, eight hundredths behind the silver of the Chinese Ye Too-Tian Haoyu, while the gold It was for the also Chinese Di Dongdong-Lian Jiageng, champions with a time of 11.28. His medal is the eighth (two gold, four silver and two bronze) for the national delegation present at the event.
In addition, on Thursday’s day, Desiré Vila was fifth in the T64 long jump (athletes with a prosthesis in one leg) with a best mark of 4.35 meters, Deliber Rodríguez was seventh with a time of 49.10 in the 400 meters T20 (intellectual disability), while in competitions for athletes with visual disabilities, Héctor Cabrera was seventh in the T13 javelin throw with a mark of 56.98 and Iván Hernández was disqualified in the 400 meters T13.
