Eduardo Cuesta secures the first individual medal in the Paralympic Table Tennis World Championships

Eduardo Cuesta from Madrid secured this Wednesday the first individual medal for the Spanish delegation present at the Paralympic Table Tennis World Championships that are being held in Granada until next Saturday, in a day that saw the eliminations of Jordi Morales and Álvaro Valera .

Cuesta, from class 11 and seventh in the world ranking, got into the semifinals and is already guaranteed the bronze medal after adding two victories. First, in the round of 16, he clearly got rid of the Pole Marek Chybinski 3-0 (11-7, 11-1, 11-8), and then overcame a tough quarterfinal match against the Frenchman Lucas Creange, three in the world and bronze. at Tokyo 2020.

In addition, in class 9, the Aragonese Jorge Cardona was on the verge of the medal after losing in an intense duel against the British Joshua Stacey by 3-2 (6-11, 12-10, 14-16, 11-9 , 11-9). In the same class, the young Ander Cepas could not beat the great favorite and number one, the Belgian Laurens Devos, who defeated him 3-0 (15-13, 11-4, 11-9).

In class 3, Miguel Rodríguez played the last match of his sporting career, with a defeat against the German Thomas Bruechle by 3-0 (11-2, 11-8, 12-10), and Iker González was also unable to beat the also German Thomas Schmidberger (11-7, 11-7, 11-4). In class 4, Francisco Javier López lost to the Turkish Nessim Turan 3-1 (9-11, 13-11, 11-8, 11-5).
