Earthquake in Mediaset: Alessandro Salem and Villanueva already have their new News Director

The new Mediaset For months it had been looking for a new person in charge of its Information Services and was in conversations with at least one journalist, with a long career and experience in the audiovisual field, both in terms of content creation and team management. In the absence of the final signature, the agreement is closed and will be known in the coming days, as this portal has been able to confirm from sources of complete solvency.

Manuel Villanueva, General Director of Content of the listed company, was the first to meet with the candidate. But later, as sources from the chain confirm, he was the CEO himself, Alessandro Salem, who held meetings with the aforementioned professional, to take charge of the Information Services in the new stage that the audiovisual giant faces. Mediaset sources confirm these meetings: “Yes, there have been conversations,” they admit, although they insist that “nothing has been signed.”

In any case, the fact is evident not only that the group was looking for a renewal of its Information Services, but that it has already found the professional who will lead this important division, as will be communicated as soon as the agreement is formalized.

Currently, the position of head of the group’s News editorial area is in the hands of Juan Pedro Valentín, who is, according to what has been published, preparing the relaunch of News Four, once the listed company has decided to close the digital portal Nius and transfer many of the journalists who work there to Cuatro. Pedro Piqueras, who turned 68 in May (nine more than Juan Pedro), directs Telecinco’s news programs, and in the media it is assumed that he will leave soon. “When he decides,” they tell us without ruling out that this will happen this year.
