Coach Joan Peñarroya has been dismissed as coach of Baskonia and will be replaced by Montenegrin Dusko Ivanovic, who will begin his fourth stage on the bench of the Vitorian team, Baskonia announced this Monday in a statement.
“Baskonia and Joan Peñarroya put an end to the relationship that had united them since June 2022. The club has informed the coach today of the decision to terminate his contract and he is no longer in charge of Zurbano’s bench,” the entity reported. on its official website.
The one from Terrassa had led the team to date in a total of 83 games, 39 in the Euroleague and 44 in the Endesa League. The Baskonista club had lost five consecutive games and was in eighth place in the Endesa League and sixteenth in the Euroleague.
His place on the bench will be occupied, once again, by Dusko Ivanovic, who will try to amend the poor record of the Basque team after being fired from Red Star.
The Montenegrin returns to the Barça team that he led on three other occasions (2000-2005, 2008-2012, 2019-2021), and in which he became the most successful in the club’s history.
