Dubai surrenders to Cristiano

Cristiano Ronaldo was chosen this Sunday best player of the century at the Globe Soccer Awards gala that took place in Dubai. Minutes after the event ended, the Burj Khalifa wanted to honor the Portuguese striker by projecting an image of him on its majestic facade. Dubai's most imposing building has turned a decade as the tallest skyscraper in the world. Inaugurated on January 4, 2010, its 828 meters surpassed the 508 meters of the Taipei 101 tower, in Taiwan.

At the Globe Soccer ceremony, which took place at the Armani Hotel, Real Madrid and Guardiola were also awarded as the best club and best coach of the century respectively. While Lewandowski, coach Hans-Dieter Flick and Bayern won the awards as the best of the year in their respective categories. Piqué and Casillas, for their part, received recognition for their career.

After receiving the award as the best player of the century, Cristiano revealed that he does not like to play games behind closed doors. “I'll be honest. Playing in empty stadiums is boring, in my opinion. I respect all the protocols and of course health comes first, but I don't like it. I do it because above all I love football, my passion is football. I play for my family, for my children, for my friends, for my fans, but I don't like to play like that. It is very difficult. I like to hear people yell and go 'uuuuuuuuuhhhhhh'. Seeing how people and other players cry out all over the world motivates me. I hope that in 2021 the rules change and we can see the stadiums full of public because passion without fans is nothing. “
