The NBA said Wednesday that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green will miss five games without pay for “escalating a on-court altercation” during Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Green was one of three players thrown out of the in-season tournament game after a fight. He was suspended over “forcibly grabbing” Rudy Gobert within the neck “in an unsportsmanlike and hazardous manner,” according to a statement from NBA general vice president Joe Dumars.

As for how long Green was suspended, Dumars said that his past of bad behavior during games played a part.

Klay Thompson along with Jaden McDaniels were also thrown out, and they were fined $25,000 for their parts in what happened.

Green won’t play in any of the games against the Houston Rockets, the Suns of Phoenix, the San Antonio Spurs, or the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The last game is part of an in-season event. Because he was suspended, he will additionally lose $769,970.

This is his fifth ban in a row. Just last season, Green was banned for Game 3 of the first round for the postseason against Sacramento because he stomped on Kings center Domantas Sabonis in the chest.

Green was banned for Game 5 during the 2016 NBA Finals, which was the most important reason. When they got to the other end of the court, McDaniels grabbed Thompson and wouldn’t let go.

On Tuesday, the first 100 seconds of the game, McDaniels as well as Thompson got tangled up in motion. Thompson clutched McDaniels’ jersey whereas he waited for a long rebound.

As other players ran toward them, Green grabbed Gobert by the head. Green was pushed off of Gobert by coaches and players, while others put space between McDaniels and Thompson.

Following a review, McDaniels as well as Thompson were each given two technical fouls, while Green was given a hard foul.

The NBA said that Thompson or McDaniels “became entangled as well as were grabbing and pulling at each other’s jerseys.” Things got even worse when Gobert stepped in and put the arms around Thompson.

Thompson as well as McDaniels were both given a technical foul and thrown out. Green, on the other hand, got a flagrant foul 2 over grabbing Gobert.

Green was automatically thrown out of the game for that type of foul, which was his second within Golden State’s previous three games.

After a missed shot changed who had the ball, Thompson and McDaniels appeared to be pushing each other near the middle of the court.

There was a fight between two players, and Gobert tried to break it up. But Green swooped in and put a headlock on Gobert.

Once everything was calm, the judges looked at what happened and gave Thompson and McDaniels two technical fouls each. Green got a flagrant two foul.

Gobert talked about what Green had done to him after the game and said it was “clown behavior.” He told the press that he was attempting to make things less tense.

No points were scored by either team before the fight started. Klay Thompson and Jalen McDaniels got into a fight while running into the court after Minnesota missed a shot in the first quarter. Things got heated.

Goingbert was one of the players who tried to break up the two. While Gobert attempted to break up the fight, Green attacked from behind and choked Gobert before pulling him out of the fight.
