When it comes to online sports betting, “DraftKings vs FanDuel” is the most common dilemma people face because they offer some of the top betting sites and apps in the US. Let’s see which one is better in this article. Also, we have published a guide about MLB betting.
FanDuel – 5/5
FanDuel provides an excellent risk-free wager of up to $1,000 in site credits to all of their customers. The conditions of the bonus aren’t perfect because if you were to win the qualifying wager, you won’t get a bonus at all. Other than that, the bonus promises a return up to a high amount and there are no wagering requirements on the winnings from the risk-free bet.
DraftKings – 3/5
DraftKings offers an exciting deposit bonus of 20% up to $1,000. The offer looks good, but if you aren’t a high roller, it would be tough to deposit that kind of money to receive the whole bonus amount. Besides that, there is also a 25x wagering requirement you need to complete before you can withdraw. Compared to FanDuel the bonus and conditions aren’t that attractive.
FanDuel – 4/5
FanDuel provides betting on multiple popular leagues, such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, etc. They also have bets for other sports, but the exact betting options vary by state. The available betting options are different for each sport and are enough to satisfy most customers because they offer the most popular choices. FanDuel’s odds are among some of the best in the country and that’s one of the reasons people choose them among others.
DraftKings – 5/5
When we compared both Sportsbook options, we found that in some cases DraftKings provides more markets people can bet on, like for the 2021 Major League Baseball competition. There weren’t plenty of other differences when it comes to odds and betting options, but those few were the reason we chose DK as a winner in this category.
FanDuel – 5/5
FanDuel provides plenty of promotions for existing customers including ones they can benefit from multiple times, like the wide array of parlay bonuses for different sports available on the “Promotions” page. The only disadvantage we could find in this category is that all the bonuses offered are in the risk-free category, while we have seen deposit bonuses for existing customers offered by DraftKings.
DraftKings – 4/5
DraftKings provides bonuses for regular customers but not as often as we would like to see. In the past, they surprised us with many bonuses focused on current sports events and competitions, but now they provide parlay boosts, free bets, deposit bonuses, or any other promo for the most popular events only and their odds boosts aren’t a lot. In the end quantity matters, just as much as quality and that’s why DK loses this round by a little.
DraftKings has a unique online platform with a dark theme which features all links and button in easy-to-find places. FanDuel prefers a light-themed platform with a futuristic-looking design. Both bookmakers have a similar layout and the bet slips are on the right side of your screen when you open the website.
The left side is reserved for the available leagues and sports, while the middle of the page features all odds and markets for the sport you chose. On the top of the page are the navigation buttons, which will lead you to wherever you need. DraftKings has a larger navigation menu on the top of the page than FanDuel, but we can’t give both bookies any less than five stars for this section.
When it comes to live wagering both bookmakers are doing pretty well when it comes to the number of events available at any time of the day, but this section is quite important and we need to pick one certain winner.
The thing that convinced us to give FanDuel the win in this section is more of a technical attribute than the quality or quantity of the live betting options. You don’t need to refresh FanDuel’s page to view the odds changing and the green and red outlines show if the betting price has increased or decreased compared to the last one. DraftKings also offers the option to not refresh the page to view the latest odds, but the change isn’t made obvious like on FanDuel’s platform, and you would have to remember the last ones to see if the odds are higher or lower.
We give FanDuel a 5/5 rating, while DraftKings receives a 4.9/5 rating. While DraftKings offers more betting options for certain sports and competitions, it’s still tough to navigate in-play betting especially if you are new to it, compared to FanDuel.
Live Streaming is a feature both bookmakers offer their customers and the quality of the streams is great. You need to have a registered and verified account to access any stream and make sure you have a positive balance in your account. The feature is very useful especially if you want to place in-play bets and you can access it both on mobile and online platforms. You don’t necessarily have to place a bet on the match you want to watch beforehand unless it is stated by the operator.
We chose FanDuel because they were the first to introduce NHL streaming to the US market and their platform deserves a 5/5 rating. DraftKings also has a quality platform, but they were a little late to the party, and most fans who prefer watching or betting on live games already chose FanDuel. DraftKings will get 4/5 stars for being late, but their streaming services are some of the best because they are partners with Sportradar.
Both DraftKings and FanDuel provide high-quality mobile Sportsbooks you can download for iOS and Android. There are separate mobile apps for each section (Sportsbook, Daily Fantasy, Casino, Racing, etc.) and you can get them for free. The customer ratings for both apps were higher than four stars and were only different by 0.1 points. Another factor we will mention is that DraftKings is available in more places than FanDuel and more people have access to the mobile app. The DraftKings app has a better mobile-friendly design and it’s easier to navigate.
Cash-out is a widely popular betting feature that lets you cash-out your wager before the end or even the beginning of the match. Both bookmakers provide the feature and customers are happy with what they get, even though not all requests get accepted for one reason or another. When placing in-play bets and using the cash-out feature, you have to be quite fast because odds change on the spot, and many times you have only a few seconds before the odds change and you may not get the same amount back.
Cash-out is popular for a reason and there are many positive qualities you can benefit from. People use the feature when the wager they placed isn’t going as well as they initially thought. Using the feature would get at least some part of the stake back, which is something compared to losing the whole stake. Sometimes, when the stake is a large sum, it’s beneficial to check up on the match and use the cash-out feature whenever you feel you need to.
We give both bookmakers a 5/5 rating in this category because we couldn’t find which one of them is better. Both offer it on multiple sports and events and the quality of the feature is excellent.
Pros | Cons |
FanDuel provides amazing bonuses and promotions. | DraftKings’ welcome offer has tough wagering conditions. |
DraftKings has a user-friendly platform with a unique site design. | Both have separate mobile apps for each section. |
Both have excellent Support sections with tons of helpful information. | DraftKings’ mobile app takes a lot of space on your device compared to FanDuel. |
Both provide a wide array of betting options and competitive odds. | FanDuel doesn’t have many contact methods available. |
DraftKings provides a Pools section, while FanDuel doesn’t. | FanDuel doesn’t provide a loyalty program for their Sportsbook customers. |
DraftKings provides a VIP loyalty program for Sportsbook & Casino customers. | DraftKings’ withdrawals aren’t processed that fast compared to FanDuel. |
In conclusion, we can say that choosing the better bookmaker proved to be tougher than we thought. Both bookies have excellent platforms but we believe that FanDuel is the better option in states where both of them are available. Their bonuses for new and existing customers sealed the deal for us because we have seen that in the past DK was pretty fantastic when it came to bonuses, but in time the bookies swathed roles. Even though most of FanDuel’s bonuses are insurance-related, they offer more options for existing customers and a better alternative for new ones.
