María Pérez established the new record in 2:37:15, taking the gold in a women’s race that was dominated by the Spanish women. Thus, Raquel González took silver with a time of 2:45:42 and Cristina Montesinos won bronze with a time of 2:45:42. In addition, the ninth position of Paula Juárez (2:55:14) gave Spain the twist.
In the men’s race, Álvaro Martín conquered the gold finishing in 2:25:35, thereby setting a new record for Spain.
