Dortmund expects losses of 45 million from COVID-19

Borussia Dortmund expects losses of 45 million euros for this fiscal year due to the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic which forced the club to withdraw its initial predictions.

In your latest business report, Dortmund had forecast earnings for the tenth consecutive year, estimated at around 5 million euros.

On March 16, the club declared that estimate invalid and this Monday announced its loss forecast through ad hoc communication to shareholders.

Dortmund has the largest stadium in Germany, with a capacity for 81,365 spectators, making it He was especially affected by having to finish the season behind closed doors.

In addition, the pandemic led to lower sponsorship revenues.

Loss estimation does not consider possible movements in the transfer market that may change the balance, increasing the debt or decreasing it.

The latter, however, is considered unlikely due to the current situation of the transfer market.

In Dortmund there are some players wanted by big clubs like Earling Haaland or Jadon Sancho.

Haland has been declared non-transferable while the administrative director Hans Joachum Watzke has declared himself open to negotiate if Sancho wishes to leave and a club makes an interesting offer.

However, Watzke also warned that he will not make reductions for the coronavirus and that at the moment he does not see any club in a position to pay what Dormund would demand for Sancho.
