What a tremendous anger that of Donald Trump after the darts he has thrown Taylor Swift on his social media and his very clear positioning with the Democratic candidate: “I will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential elections. I will vote for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need someone to defend them.” The reaction of the Republican candidate has not been long in coming and has been blunt: “I wasn’t a Taylor Swift fan and it was just a matter of time.”
In an interview for Fox & Friends This Wednesday, Trump issued a serious warning to the singer: “She is a very liberal person and always seems to back a Democrat. And she will probably pay a price for that in the market.”At the same time, she said she liked Taylor’s friend Brittany Mahomes “a lot more”: “She’s a huge fan of mine. I like her. I think she’s great. She’s a huge MAGA fan. That’s who I like, way more than Taylor Swift.”
It should be remembered that the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer has a real legion of fans (with more than 280 million followers on social media) and her opinion among the younger population is very influential. In 2020, she supported Joe Biden and had remained silent about her preferences in these new elections until now. However, the Republican candidate used AI to manipulate some images of Swift and alleged support for his cause in a campaign that he headlined as ‘Swifties for Trump’ and that, obviously, did not sit well with the artist: “It awakened my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading false information. It led me to the conclusion that I have to be very transparent about my plans for these elections as a voter,” she said.
Tired of her public image being used, she expressed her support for the Democratic cause after watching the debate between Trump and Harris: “If you haven’t already, now is a good time to research the issues at hand and the positions these candidates take on the issues that matter most to you. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read as much as I can about the policies and plans they propose for this country,” she wrote. “I will be voting for Kamala, I think she is a talented and steady leader and I believe we can accomplish much more in this country if we are guided by calm and not chaos.”
