Doña Sofía and the Infantas, Elena and Cristina, go to the cemetery where King Constantine of Greece rests

The Queen Sofia and their daughters the infantas Elena y Cristinahave gathered in the Hellenic cemetery of Tatoi this Sunday morning to be reunited with the mortal remains of the King Constantine and say a prayer for him. There we have been able to see the daughters of Juan Carlos I to arrive in the same official van in which they were traveling yesterday, to his mother, Doña Sofía and in another private vehicle, to the widow, Anna Maria of Denmark.

The day before, an intimate and family funeral was held to honor and remember King Constantine in Athens. There, Queen Emeritus Sofía could be seen accompanied by her inseparable daughters and her sister, irene from greece. Very affectionate and in rigorous mourning, the emeritus greeted all the media present at the funeral and smiled at the support she received by way of applause.

The Metropolitan Cathedral once again became the setting for this funeral, which was attended only by the closest family to remember the last king of the Hellenes. Upon her arrival, we could see Queen Sofía, very close to her daughters and her sister, Irene of Greece. After this ceremony, the Greek Royal Family invited those attending to a meal and a coffee in the cultural center of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

Queen Sofia has always enjoyed a very good relationship with her brothers, Irene and Constantine, but following the death of the last Hellenic king, the emeritus has shown her full support for her sister-in-law. In fact, when her first funeral took place, days later we could see her having dinner with Queen Ana Maria of Denmark and her nephews.

The Infantas Cristina and Elena have continued to maintain the good relationship that their mother instilled in them. On these two occasions that we have been able to see them in Athens, they have shown their kindest and most sympathetic face to the cameras with their maternal family. In addition, between them we can see that the union that they have always had continues to exist, especially in the worst moments for them.

It was on January 10 when King Constantine died at the age of 82 after being admitted to the intensive care unit for several days due to respiratory failure. During recent times, he would have suffered from health problems. In 2016, he was admitted for suffering an ischemic crisis and, a few weeks later, he was hospitalized again for contracting Covid. All this affected his respiratory and heart problems, in addition to having reduced mobility.
