Doña Letizia changes the festive luggage from Oviedo for the trench and moccasins in Tenerife: at the foot of the fire

Goodbye to Oviedo, the Princess of Asturias Awards and Arroes cider. The Kings have headed to Tenerife to see first-hand the devastating fires that have devastated the north of the island. Felipe VI and Letizia have landed in the Canarian community this Tuesday, October 24.

They resume the rhythm of the agenda. Don Felipe and Doña Letizia went to the Chipeque viewpoint, in the Tenerife town of Santa Úrsula, where they met with the mayors of the towns that have suffered the most from the destructive effect of the flames, such as Santa Úrsula itself, Candelaria, El Rosario, La Matanza de Acentejo, La Orotava or Tacoronte. The Kings held a meeting with technicians from the Forest and Fire Management service of the Cabildo de Tenerife.

For this work visit, the Queen has opted for her camel-colored multipurpose trench coat, which she has combined with a flat loafer and Prince of Wales checkered pants. Although the novelty of the entire look is the updo of the bangs, which she wears secured with a simple hairpin.

As part of this visit to Tenerife, the Kings will receive the volunteers, crews, official schools and other personnel who have participated and collaborated in the tasks of extinguishing the devastating fire. The event will take place this afternoon at the Adán Martín Auditorium in Santa Cruz. Felipe and Letizia have been accompanied by the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo; and by the acting Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles.

The forest disaster started on August 15 and was declared under control on September 11. By then the flames had devoured 14,000 hectares in 12 municipalities. The October heat wave, which shook the Canary Islands, reactivated the most vulnerable points due to the lack of humidity.
