The German platform Sky Deutschland will produce a documentary series on the life of the father of Philip VI. Throughout four chapters, it will be addressed from the ascent to the throne of Don Juan Carlos until the scandals that led to his abdication in 2014.

This has been revealed by sources from the audiovisual company to Variety. The aforementioned medium explains that she will be told from the perspective of her close friends, palace confidants, former intelligence service officials and critics.
“The series examines the personal life of the former King, including his love affairs, allegations of corruption and alleged abuse of power, up to the events and circumstances of his abdication,” they detail.
The series, produced by the prestigious Christian Beetz, nominated for the Emmy Awards, will be screened in February at the television version of Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival. It will be available in all Sky markets, including the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, later this year. A similar audiovisual work with a Spanish brand is available on HBO Max, save the king, which entered directly to the most watched of the streaming giant at the national level.
