BERLIN, 14 Apr. (dpa/EP) –
The president of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, is full of praise for the Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), “a role model” and a sample of what “can be achieved when you don’t give up”.
“The return of Fernando Alonso is something fantastic for him, for F-1 and for everyone. He is a role model, a reference for everyone. He shows what can be achieved when you never give up and give the best of yourself” , declared Domenicali in an interview with the newspaper ‘Welt’ published this Friday.
The Italian, Ferrari’s ‘Team Principal’ when the two-time world champion drove for the ‘Prancing Horse’ between 2010 and 2014, also described as “pure magic” that the Spaniard, who has three podium finishes in the first three Grand Prix of season, he can keep up at times with the Red Bull of the Dutchman and reigning champion Max Verstappen.
On the other hand, Domenicali believes that the World Championship is on the right path of modernization and defended recent changes, such as the introduction of more sprint races. “We want each Grand Prix to be different from the previous one and the next. Each one of them must be a new experience, not only because of what happens on the track, but also because of what happens off it. That is very important”, he stated.
