Djokovic falls to seventh place in the ATP ranking and Nadal rises to third place

The Serbian won at Wimbledon, but the English ‘Grand Slam’ did not distribute points due to the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian tennis players.

MADRID, 11 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, Wimbledon champion this weekend, has fallen to seventh place in the ATP ranking, after the organization decided not to have the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the year for the ranking, after the tournament’s veto Russians and Belarusians for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while the Spanish Rafael Nadal has risen to third place.

Thus, the tournament has not distributed points in this edition, also losing those achieved last year. This has caused Djokovic (4,770 points) to subtract the 2,000 units he achieved by conquering the English tournament in the last edition, falling to fourth place -his worst position since August 2018-, despite winning the victory for the second consecutive course at the All-England Club. Another blow for the Serbian, who already gave up the number 1 in the world last month in favor of Daniil Medvedev.

For his part, Rafa Nadal (6,165), who had to withdraw from Wimbledon after beating Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals in a tough duel due to an abdominal injury, rises to third place, with the Russian Medvedev (7,775) leading the ranking and Alexander Zverev (6,850) in second place. Carlos Alcaraz also climbs to sixth place.

Spaniards Pablo Carreño (18) and Roberto Bautista (20) remain in the top 20, while Alejandro Davidovich is in 36th place after moving up one place, with the biggest rise for Roberto Carballés (81), who climbs six places.
