Director Dan Quinn says those in charge fire Eric Bieniemy.

Director Dan Quinn says those in charge fire Eric Bieniemy.

During his first news conference as coach, Dan Quinn said that the Washington Commanders fired their offensive leader Eric Bieniemy after just one season with the team.

Quinn told him, “We cannot succeed together here, but I wanted her to know how much I love the work he’s done.” I hope the best for him.”

Many people thought it would be hard for Bieniemy to come back, but on Sunday night, Washington named Kliff Kingsbury as the offensive coordinator, making the move official. Quinn said that he told Bieniemy the news in person on Monday.

Bieniemy joined Ron Rivera’s staff in the end of the offseason after being the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs for five years and leading them to two Super Bowl wins.

Several people in Washington said that the players didn’t like being led by Bieniemy, but more than that, the offense kept having problems that had been going on for years.

The Commanders had the 24th most yards and the 25th most points. In both areas, they were worse than they were last season.

That being said, Washington additionally utilized quarterback Sam Howell in 2023. He had only made one start as a rookie the year before.

The Commanders additionally featured a new offensive line, but it wasn’t seen as a strength, the team officials admitted in private.

One team source said that by the end of the year, Bieniemy’s desire for the ball made things worse. Washington led the NFL alongside 636 pass attempts this year.

It wasn’t like Washington’s offensive problems were new; they’ve been at or below 20th in yards and points for six straight years.

On Monday, Dan Quinn, the new head coach of the Washington Commanders, said that offensive lineman Eric Bieniemy would not be returning to his staff.

Quinn announced disclosure during his first news conference as manager, surrounded by team owner Josh Harris or general manager Adam Peters.

This was just a few days after the Commanders hired him to replace Ron Rivera, who was fired.

Quinn said this about Bieniemy: “I had a good meeting with him.” “I believe he is a great coach.

We’re not planning to work together on this. I intended for him to know that I value the work he’s done. I hope the best for EB.”

Before coming to work for the Commanders, Quinn was the defensive coordinator to the Dallas Cowboys for three years.

Following the sale of the team by long-time owner Dan Snyder with a group led by Harris in July, he is the face of a makeover in Washington.

After signing Quinn, the officers hired Kliff Kingsbury, who used to be the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, as their offensive guru on Sunday. This meant that Bieniemy wasn’t going to be in charge of the offense.

The Commanders likewise hired Joe Whitt Jr., a former assistant coach for the Cowboys, as their defensive coordinator. Under Quinn, Whitt was in charge of the secondary or defensive passing game.

Quinn isn’t going to call plays in Capital City. He told reporters that Whitt would be in charge of the defense and Kingsbury would be in charge of the offense.

In January, Peters was hired to replace the Commanders from the front office of the San Francisco 49ers.
