Diego Martínez: “I see many positive things, we all want the reinforcement of the points”

MADRID, 29 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of Espanyol, Diego Martínez, pointed out that the defeat (1-3) against Real Madrid this Sunday in the third day of LaLiga Santander left him “many positive things”, but recognized the need to improve, while strengthening himself.

“I feel very proud of the team, we have competed one on one against the European champion. We have recovered from the goal against, the team’s game has a lot of merit. The dedication and effort has been brutal. Until the 87th minute, where the quality of Madrid makes them take the points”, he said at a press conference.

The ‘perico’ coach valued the character that his team should show and answered many questions about the transfer market. “Espanyol, regardless of any result or any circumstance, will always be a competitive team, strong, brave, intense. It is true that we have to improve,” he said, speaking of not forgiving in the areas and improving from set pieces.

“Our needs are evident, we trust that these last four days we can meet at least the minimum to be able to compete. The numbers, matchday 3, before that we cannot do anything, continue improving. Then we have to analyze each goal and each game I am optimistic because I see a team that improves every day. I see many positive things,” he added.

Diego Martínez pointed out that he will seek the “maximum performance” of the players he has, with “confidence” that the signings will arrive. “We all want the reinforcement of the points and the results, but today there are many good things to hold on to,” he finished.
