Diego Costa wanted to play in the Brazilian league

Diego Costa wanted to play in the Brazilian league after leaving Atlético de Madrid in December 2020, according to the Brazilian digital media UOL. The one from Lagarto returned to Brazil for family reasons. Without a team, he maintained his physical tone as rumors spread about European teams willing to sign him. Nevertheless, Costa was clear that he wanted to play in his country and that is why he offered himself to Gremio, Palmeiras, Sao Paulo and Atlético Miniero between January and February.

Despite showing great interest in starting a new stage of his career in the Brazilian, the negotiations with the different clubs did not come to fruition due to two factorsThe first is that Costa no longer has a representative, previously he had Jorge Mendes and the Iranian Kia Joorabchian, so he turned to various intermediaries to speed up the talks and reach an agreement. Nevertheless, the clubs backed down when they saw that the forward did not have a reliable right hand that could conclude a possible signing.

The second factor had to do with the economic demands of Costa, who demanded an annual salary of approximately 3 million euros, in addition to a bonus for his signing and for the goals scored. Some claims seen as excessive for some teams, which are trying to balance the accounts in the face of the economic crisis.

With the vanished dream of playing in his country, Costa continues to search for a team to which he can contribute his enormous scoring ability.
