Diego: “Casemiro's penalty? We respect the referees”

Diego Martínez did not want to comment on Martínez Munuera's performance in the press conference after Real Madrid – Granada. The coach, yes, was very satisfied with the performance of his players.

Assessment of the meeting: “When you don't win, you can't be satisfied. But the team's performance has been good. We started with personality, recovering very high, having the clearest opportunity to get ahead and with this type of team, if you don't get it right, the dynamics of the game get complicated. In the first part we have been very tight. Except for a stage in the second half in which they were better, even with 1-0 the team put the rival in the opposite field, we had options to draw the tie. I can only congratulate the team ”.

Did you lack lucidity with the ball ?: “We lacked precision in the last third of the field. When the game opened in the second half, we let loose a little more. We were able to do more damage to Real Madrid. We are left with the arreón and passion with which we have played the last leg of the match. The team has had its options ”.

Possible penalty by Casemiro on Yangel Herrera: “We always respect what the referee says. There is a referee in the field, another in the VAR and they are the ones who have to decide those actions and we always respect them ”.

Vallejo's error in the mark on Casemiro in the 1-0: “We do not do individual evaluations. I give the team in general and Vallejo in particular good marks. It is quite a challenge to come to Valdebebas to face Real Madrid, current league champions, and in general the team's performance has been very good, beyond the fact that we would have liked to win some points ”.

One week off after a long time: “We deserve those two days of vacation for the group to disconnect. But everyone with the meat opened by the Covid so that there is no setback. It is the moment that we have to live. The mind of a coach is difficult to disconnect. We will try. The group deserves it. Rest, take good care of ourselves, that we are lucky and when we return we are all available and at the same level as the team, which I think has finished at a very good level.

Domingos Duarte's ankle discomfort and Puertas' physical problems at the end: “The team finished very well physically, they put the rival in the opposite field. Today has not been a matter of accumulated fatigue, it has been a matter of giving everything on the field, pushing yourself to the limit in order to compete against Real Madrid. I put it down to my own effort. Even if we had had ten days off we would have ended up just as fused. They are very demanding games and the team has once again responded with a good note ”.
