The Spanish artistic swimmer Fernando Díaz del Río, the first world champion in history in men’s solo, declared himself “very proud” for the gold in the World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka (Japan), and thanked his training partners and ‘staff ‘ your support to achieve this result.
“I am very happy with this gold, and very grateful to have had the support of all my ‘staff’ and the athletes with whom I train every day, and very proud to have achieved this metal”, declared this Monday after becoming the first Spanish world champion in ‘synchro’.
The swimmer from the Canary Islands has won with a routine that has earned him 224.5550 points, and which has earned him to surpass the American Kenneth Gaudet (216.8000), silver, and the Kazakh Eduard Kim (216.0000), bronze.
