Di María, four games suspended after spitting on Álvaro

It's official now. Ángel Di María has been sanctioned with four games after spitting on Álvaro González during the PSG-Olympique de Marseille dispute. The LFP has endorsed the images provided by French television in which the unsportsmanlike gesture of the former Real Madrid player was aimed directly at the Spanish central defender.

The Argentine has escaped a greater punishment, because his spit could have carried him a penalty of up to ten games. One of the reasons why he has finally been sanctioned with four games is his exemplary behavior during the last seasons, in which he had not registered any unsportsmanlike gesture.

Regarding the alleged case of racism between Álvaro González and Neymar, the investigation procedure is still open and the LFP Disciplinary Committee will pronounce itself in one or two weeks. The sanction to Di María is binding from today and the noodle will not be able to play on Sunday against Stade Reims.
