The France coach, Didier Deschamps, has asked the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach, Christophe Galtier, on Sunday to let Kylian Mbappe “breathe a little” so that he can rest ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, which begins next November, playing “fewer minutes”.
“I know (Galtier) still wants Kylian (Mbappé) to play. But every now and then, he needs to be able to breathe a little bit,” Deschamps told Telefoot.
The French coach insisted that the PSG striker “needs to play fewer minutes.” “He will not hurt him, quite the opposite,” he added, as a solution so that the player arrives fresher at the World Cup event and has less risk of getting injured before it.
Mbappe has started all nine of PSG’s Ligue 1 and Champions League games this season, scoring ten goals. The 23-year-old also played all 90 minutes of France’s 2-0 Nations League victory over Austria on Thursday, as well as starting against Denmark on Sunday against Denmark.
