The Denver Nuggets will play in the Western Conference final three years later, after winning (100-125) in Game 6 against the Phoenix Suns and winning the semifinal series 4-2, in another stellar performance by Serbian Nikola Jokic, who signed another ‘triple-double’.
The Nuggets avenged their 2021 elimination at the hands of the Suns, cementing their ultimate win on performances from Jokic, Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The Serb was once again the leader of his team with 32 points (13 of 18 from the field), 10 rebounds and 12 assists, once again turning the extraordinary into routine.
With him on the track, Denver was always better, even reaching +28, on a night in which Murray scored 26 points, with a remarkable success from the triple (4/7), and Caldwell-Pope added 21 in a first part that was key to the future of the match, with a scandalous 51-81 for the Nuggets on the scoreboard.
As of the break, some Suns were very lost defensively and again without Chris Paul they were always in tow, with no real options to force the seventh game. Kevin Durant, who will have to wait another season to fight for the ring, added 23 points, while Devin Booker’s performance was very discreet (12 points and 8 assists).
The Nuggets will face the winner of the semifinal between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, reigning NBA champions. The Los Angeles franchise is ahead (2-3) and this morning they could decide at home.
