Denmark and Tunisia add without success
‘Vikingos’ and ‘Águilas de Cartago’ share points in a vibrant duel
MADRID, 22 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Danish and Tunisian teams drew this Tuesday (0-0) at the Education City Stadium (Rayán), in the opening of Group D that they share with Australia and France, in a vibrant but unsuccessful duel in which the Danes had a stick that could have changed the clash and the World Cup for both teams.
Distribution of points and good feelings, in the absence of that success that is predicted to be key for each other. The Scandinavians had the clearest chance, with that somewhat forced header from Andreas Cornelius hitting the post with 20 minutes to go.
But Tunisia resisted the ‘Viking’ offensive against all odds. With an imperial central Yassine Meriah, leading behind the ‘Eagles of Carthage’, the Africans showed courage at all times to bail out water. But not only that, they came to have control of the game, especially in the first half, and chances to score.
Except goals, the duel had everything. In fact, there were goals (one for each side) but they were canceled out due to offsides. The offensive initiative of the game was swinging from one side to the other, and both teams put goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel and Aymen Dahmen to the test, who had a good start to the World Cup.
In fact, Schmeichel starred in a great save, key, before Issam Jebali’s Vaseline attempt in a Tunisian counter. But Dahmen did not come up short and canceled out and dried up all the Danes’ attempts, including two good long shots from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Christian Eriksen.
The Danish ’10’ couldn’t shine. He was returning to the World Cup after the scare he gave in the last Euro Cup and after seeing his life in danger, first, and his football career. He was good, he shared the game and had one of the best chances of the Europeans, but it wasn’t enough to help Kasper Hjulmand’s men win. Of course, the point leaves them very alive.
As the Tunisian players lost energy and strength, Jalal Kadri’s men found it more difficult to put together good counters and enjoy clear chances, such as the aforementioned save by Christensen or a quick run by Aissa Laidouni that ended in a corner. In the end, the ‘Eagles’ protected the nest and succeeded, celebrating each successful defensive action as well as the point scored.
