“2022 has been wonderful, sportingly I can’t ask for more. Now I have the chance to do an exciting job, the most that can be asked for. We’re going to end 2022 well, but we’re going to start 2023 better,” De la Fuente said. in statements shared by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

The new coach, appointed after the departure of Luis Enrique, pointed out that “the word illusion is the one that most marks” his arrival in office. “We really want to start and that these days pass, which are a little more complex. We want to get to work on this wonderful and exciting project, we are going with everything to leave our skin to achieve great goals,” he assured.

“I ask for health by 2023, and that we continue to meet the objectives and results that allow us to reach the top. Win the matches in March, and compete to win the League of Nations,” concluded the La Rioja coach.

De la Fuente will make his debut in office on March 25 against Norway, a duel corresponding to the qualifying phase for the 2024 Euro Cup in Germany, at the La Rosaleda Stadium, in Malaga.
