The U-21 national coach, Luis de la Fuente, recalled that the match against Lithuania, on March 25 in Talavera de la Reina, will be “key to qualifying for the European Championship” in 2023, so in the presentation of the party held play at home.
The first match of 2022 for the U21s was presented this Wednesday at the El Prado Stadium, where Spain will defend its leadership in Group C. “For us it is a very important match. The event was attended, among others, by the president of the Castilla-La Mancha Football Federation, Pablo Burillo Cabañero, and the mayor of Talavera de la Reina, Tita García Élez. “Tradition, avant-garde, culture and sport within it, that is the city of Talavera and we welcome you with open arms because for us playing this game is something very important. The team always means joy and we are very proud that this match is a day to celebrate,” said the mayor.
The adviser to the RFEF Presidency Cabinet, Albert Luque, excused the absence of the RFEF president, Luis Rubiales, who is in Ceuta, and thanked the authorities for the “effort made to bring the game to Talavera and the good disposition shown to make the meeting a great success”.
