De Jong, soleus injury: will be low for the next two weeks

Frenkie de Jong will be out of the field for at least two weeks due to a soleus injury to his right leg that the club detected after further tests. Remember that Barcelona sent a statement on Friday announcing that the Dutch midfielder was out because of a small overload in the cufflink. 48 hours later, this slight incidence has become much more serious, since it speaks directly of an injury, meaning that it will be low in the coming days.

AS has been able to know that the injury that the club talks about, without giving more information, is specifically a break and the minimum time that it will have outside the playing fields is two weeks. Considering how compressed the schedule is in this competition restart, it could easily miss the next four games: Athletic Bilbao, Celta, Atlético de Madrid and Villarreal.

Until now, De Jong had been able to avoid injuries: his only absence in a call had been in Setien's debut last January against Granada (1-0) at the Camp Nou and for being sanctioned. Against Sevilla (0-0) it was the first game to be lost due to injury this season, although against Leganés (2-0) he no longer participated, the whole game being on the bench. It was the first sign that something was wrong.

Subsequently, the club issued a statement to report the loss of the player, but ensuring that it was a very minor injury. However, and As the discomfort persisted, the doctors carried out new tests, which ruled out the previous diagnosis, affecting a more far-reaching injury.

Thus, Setién will have to face the next matches with the loss of the Dutch international. A sensible low because we are talking about a key piece in the midfield. Against Athletic Bilbao, he will still not be able to recover Sergi Roberto, who suffers a rib fissure. An injury that is modulated through pain management. The doctors hope that it may be available for the game against Celta in Balaídos next Saturday.
