De Gea and his memory of Elche that annoys the Atleti fans

David De Gea is involved in a new controversy with the Atlético de Madrid fans. Beyond his departure and his almost arrival at Real Madrid, stories already from the newspaper library, The goalkeeper showed his love for Elche, which was already public, with a tweet that did not sit well with the rojiblancos fans.

Elche recalled this Tuesday an important event in its history: 19 years have passed since a 5-1 win against Atlético de Madrid that was recorded as one of the games that many people from Elche enjoyed the most. The club posted the video of the game at the Martínez Valero and the goalkeeper retweeted it adding a “How nice to see it from the stands” that did not sit well with the fans of Atlético, a club in which he trained as a player, made his professional debut and From which he left in 2011 for Manchester United in exchange for 25 million euros.

Elche did not hesitate to 'retweet' De Gea's affectionate gesture with a “Does anyone else remember this game from the Martínez Valero stands?” . The goalkeeper is not the first time that he celebrates Elche's victories on social networks or shows his support for the Elche club, to which he feels close thanks to the fact that his father is a fan, both becoming subscribers.

What felt bad for the athletic fans, who expressed themselves through Twitter in better and worse tones, was not that they celebrate a success for Elche, it was that they fondly remember a win against their club. A gesture that has not been liked and to which they have responded forcefully.

A historic afternoon for Elche

It was March 30, 2002 and Elche lived an afternoon that they themselves recognize as historical. With a Martínez Valero with good capacity, Elche was exhibited with a 5-1 win with goals from Raúl Ivars, Israel, Serrano and a double from Nino, that is still in the staff of the people of Elche. At Atlético it was an afternoon to forget. Luis Aragonés had to face the expulsions of Correa and García Calvo. The only goal for the rojiblancos that afternoon was scored by Dani. One afternoon that David De Gea lived in the stands of the Elche Coliseum and admits not to forget.
