Davidovich wins the Spanish duel against Bautista and goes to the round of 16 in Adelaide

MADRID, 6 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Malaga tennis player Alejandro Davidovich won the duel between Spaniards against Roberto Bautista from Castellón by 7-5 and 6-2 in the debut of both players in the Adelaide (Australia) tournament, in the ATP 250 category and on hard courts.

Davidovich and Bautista crossed paths in their debut in Adelaide, and the duel fell on the side of the Malaga native, who thus achieved his first victory (7-5, 6-2) in 2025. For his part, the Castellón native falls in his first match of the year, after competing in the last Davis Cup in Malaga.

The man from Malaga, number 68 in the ATP ranking, managed to equal his balance with Bautista, now 2-2, after winning a first set that went uneven in the eleventh game, when he broke the Castellón native’s serve on the fourth break ball of the game. An advantage that he confirmed with his serve to close 7-5.

In the second set, everything was more peaceful for Davidovich, who already found himself with a first game in favor of the rest. At 4-2, he broke Bautista again and concluded the duel 6-2. Now, the man from Malaga will face the second seed in the tournament and finalist in 2024, Sebastian Korda, in the round of 16. The American, however, has not competed since the last US Open after undergoing elbow surgery.

The Spanish Roberto Carballés also advanced to the round of 16 in Auckland (New Zealand), after beating the German Daniel Altmaier, who entered the tournament as a ‘lucky loser’, 6-3, 3-6 and 7-5 after a little more than two and a half hours, in a duel in which the Canarian knew how to suffer and needed to come back in the third set.

The start was very favorable, with a comfortable Spanish tennis player who managed to avoid two breaking points from his rival to break the German’s serve in the fourth game, a cushion he maintained to close the first set 6-3.

A score that Altmaier would return in the second set, to complicate the fate of the Spaniard, who however knew how to recover in the final set, which did not start well for Carballés, but his conviction and intensity always kept him in the fight for victory. recovering a lost break and breaking again to culminate the victory with a final 7-5. Now, he will face the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo.
