Davidovich reaches the quarterfinals and Carreño gives up his reign in Hamburg

Munar is still in Gstaad, where Bautista saw his debut postponed one game from defeat

MADRID, 20 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Alejandro Davidovich sealed his pass to the quarterfinals of the Hamburg tournament (Germany), in the ATP 500 category and which is played on clay, while the current champion, the Spanish Pablo Carreño, said goodbye defeated, same heads and tails that was lived in Gstaad (Switzerland) with the victory of Jaume Munar and the suffering still alive of Roberto Bautista.

Davidovich did not give the Slovakian Jozef Kovalik an option (6-2, 6-2) this Wednesday, seeking to recover the sensations he amassed there in Monte Carlo, where he made a historic final. The man from Malaga added his second victory this week and the option of finding confidence again, this time against Lorenzo Musetti or Emil Ruusuvuori.

Meanwhile, the Slovakian Alex Molcan defeated the Spanish Carreño (6-3, 1-6, 7-6(5)), coming back from 1-3 in the third set. The Asturian said goodbye in the second round of the land where last year he lifted the sixth ATP title of his career, when he came with rhythm and game to make the semifinals in Bastad.

In addition, Spanish tennis celebrated this Wednesday the victory of Jaume Munar over the Swiss Alexander Ritschard by 6-3 and 6-3. The Balearic saved the seven ‘break’ balls he faced during the match and was forceful to the rest to take control of the match and seal his pass to the quarterfinals in Switzerland, where he will face Casper Ruud or Jiri Lehecka .

Bautista, who arrived winless from Bastad, will have to wait until Thursday to complete his debut in Gstaad, after the ‘trap’ against Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas was interrupted several times by rain and finally postponed. The player from Castellón will return to the match against the ropes with 7-6(3), 6-5 against.
